With over 30 years experience in the hardware industry, Mal has played a major role in the development of the Sontax brand throughout Australia and is a Founding Director of the company. Mal commenced on the floor at Bunning’s Riverton in Western Australia in 1975 and immediately had a great passion for the Hardware Industry.
In 1986 Mal decided to go his own way with Sontax and commenced a small wholesale company designed to “specialise in the distribution of DIY hardware to the Western Australian public”. Importing a small range of hand tools and adding some agency lines Sontax was soon on the move and continues its national growth today. All of this was achieved with some wonderful staff along the way.
Having seen many changes and iconic names disappear along the way, Mal retains his enthusiasm for the industry today.
Gaetano (Guy) Bongiorno
Director CPA
Guy Bongiorno joined Sontax in 2006 as General Manager and has since become a Director in the company. Guy holds a Bachelor of Business degree and is a qualified Certified Practising Accountant with over 25 years experience in the corporate sector.
Prior to joining Sontax Guy held the position of State Finance Manager with the National Rail Transport Company SCT Logistics as well as 4 years with Pump Manufacturer and market leader Malcolm Thompson Pumps. Guy also spent 4 years working in the Oil and Gas industry with Champion Technologies Inc as the Regional Financial Controller Asia Pacific working overseas in Singapore and Jakarta.
He began his career with electrical appliance giant Panasonic where he progressed to General Manager of the Western Australian operation after 10 years of dedicated service.
